Department of Clinical Medicine
This department is engaged in the clinical studies associated with Minamata
Disease : studying the clinical profile of the Minamata Disease patients,
developing method for objective diagnosis, studying the occurrence mechanism
of nerve-cell damage and developing remedial therapies. Important social
studies, such as health surveys and development of health management systems
in the Minamata Disease outbreak area, are also undertaken. In addition
to the research, the rehabilitation for the Minamata Disease patients and
the health consultations for the inhabitants in the Minamata Disease outbreak
area are conducted.
